Warming Alters Prey Density and Biological Control in Conventional and Organic Agricultural Systems
Resource Description
In a study comparing organic and conventional farming, researchers found that organic fields had similar aphid abundances to conventional fields under ambient conditions. However, when the enclosures were warmed, aphids were significantly more abundant and predator abundance was reduced in conventional fields. Overall, the study suggests that organic systems may better maintain biological control as global temperatures rise.
