Recurrent Selection and Participatory Plant Breeding for Improvement of Two Organic Open-Pollinated Sweet Corn (Zea mays L.) Populations
Resource Description
This study focused on improving two open-pollinated sweet corn populations for organic farming using recurrent selection and participatory plant breeding from 2008 to 2011. The selection was based on traits identified by an organic farmer. Evaluations in 2012 and 2013 showed significant trends in the selection cycles, indicating the effectiveness of the methods used, but further improvements are needed to meet the needs of organic growers.
