Recurrent Full-sib Family Selection for Husk Extension in Sweet Corn
Resource Description
The study conducted a recurrent selection experiment on sweet corn to select for longer husks without reducing ear length, aiming to improve resistance to the corn earworm. Despite successfully selecting for longer husk extension, this did not increase corn earworm resistance. Further research is needed to understand the effectiveness of long husk extension in corn earworm resistance and whether it could be more effective when combined with other resistance traits.
